The G8 and Development: The Road to Gleneagles

The communiqué issued by the G8 finance ministers at the conclusion of the June 10-11 meeting in London reaffirmed their commitment to help developing countries achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015, including particular efforts in Africa. They set out for G8 heads of government and states the steps they believe can be taken to further implement the Monterrey Consensus on an open world trade system; increased aid effectiveness; absorptive capacity; increased levels of aid; and debt relief.
